Swedish Media Publishers' Association

The Swedish Media Publishers' Association is the trade association for Sweden's newspapers and other media companies. In all it has around 200 members, of which the daily newspapers make up around 160.

The Swedish Media Publishers' Association office is situated in Stockholm, where some 15 employees are divided between departments for law, marketing, training, development, information and administration.
Managing Director is Mrs Jeanette Gustafsdotter, jeanette.gustafsdotter@tu.se.
Chairman of the Board is Mr Tomas Brunegård.

Sweden has a large number of newspapers and magazines. There are about 170 newspapers with a total circulation of 4 million. The daily press has a stable readership with a daily reach of 87 per cent.

Research

The Swedish Newspaper Research Programme (Dagspresskollegiet) is an internationally unique research effort, located at the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication in Gothenburg. Based on annual surveys with representative samples of the Swedish population the programme has during almost 30 years studied trends in newspaper reading and analysed social, political, cultural and technical factors influencing newspaper readership, including use of upcoming media platforms.
